Nyoman
Ari was born
into a silversmith family in the village of Celuk, Bali, Indonesia. It is long renowned as the
island's center of silver production. Ari began learning to craft silver
jewelry when he was a little boy. His interest of the silver jewelry arts
became a passion, he eventually decided to build his own silver workshop in
his village to explore some of his own
ideas of
design. Ari's genius is combining traditional designs in silver
with local shells and
coral to create
naturally elegant design.
Jumiran creates jewelry and is the founder of a
small jewelry home industry in Kota Gede, Jogyakarta, Indonesia. The town is
known for its traditional silver craft. Jumiran’s intricate and distinctive
creations include sculpture
in silver, copper and brass as well as traditional
jewelry. Like most of the local producers, his
craft was passed down. And while embracing traditional techniques and
designs, Jumiran also loves to meld
new ideas into the
old.
