Both canting (hand-drawn tool) and copper stamp are used for applying malam (hot wax) to create the design on this rayon scarf. The fabric is then hand dipped in dye for a few times to achieve the color intended. The fabric covered by wax resist the dye. This process is repeated for each color, then fabric is dipped in boiling water to remove the wax and dried under the sunlight to bring out the vibrant color.
